Kit Carson Remodel Opens Opportunities for Students

Landmark Construction is in the process of remodeling Kit Carson Middle School to prepare the campus to become an International Baccalaureate program for students in grades 7 through 12. The second phase is now under construction.

The Sacramento City Unified School District project was recently profiled in the Sacramento Bee:

“A $7 million school remodel is scheduled for fall completion with two new science classrooms, two art classrooms, a small theater for performing arts, IB project rooms and a remodeled multimedia center.”

The article also quotes Sacramento City Unified School District Trustee Ellen Cochrane, indicating that she’s enthusiastic about the IB program.

“It’s solid, well-developed and sophisticated,” Cochrane said. “It’s a wonderful choice for Sacramento.”

Landmark Construction partnered with Sacramento School District to complete this exciting project over a number of phases, according to Joe Bittaker, President, Landmark Construction.  “The overall program has included the repair and replacement of roofing and rooftop solar panels, improvements of the courtyards and walkways, and installation of air conditioning in the gymnasium,” said Bittaker. “In addition, we converted existing buildings to re-orient the campus to the new main entry and created 21st century learning spaces as well as constructed the new building.”
