On Tuesday, November 2, 2015, California Middle School and the Sacramento City Unified School District celebrated the grand opening of the new gym, renovated by Landmark Construction. The architect was Rainforth Grau Architects, based in Sacramento CA. The original gym, built in 1975, was enlarged and modernized using Measure R bonds.
The $3.1 million dollar gymnasium renovation project included the addition of 2,500 square feet of additional space, a new wood floor and wireless scoreboard. In addition, Landmark Construction installed new energy efficient lighting and a heating, cooling and ventilation (HVAC) system, that will keep students more comfortable and save the district money on utility bills. Additionally, the project included making locker rooms, restrooms and office areas Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant.
According to the Sacramento City USD, the expansion will accommodate the popular Land Park middle school’s growing needs. Learn more at California Middle School cuts the ribbon on $3.1 million expanded gym
