Glen Edwards Middle School

New 2-Story and Modernization

Our $32M Lease-Leaseback project at Glen Edwards Middle School (GEMS) consisted of replacing most of Glen Edwards’ buildings with striking new facilities. The new classroom building completed Fall 2019 is a dramatic two-story steel and concrete structure. Glen Edwards was a multi-phase project on an occupied, existing campus.

The new structural steel building also included a library, and nine classrooms, along with additional staff and student restrooms, as well as a large new gymnasium with full locker rooms, band rooms, and large bleachers. Outdoor learning spaces tie the new buildings into the existing campus, providing opportunities for instruction and interaction in a natural setting.

Phase 2 of this project was a new campus entrance, new gymnasium, and modernization of all existing classroom wings as well as replacement of campus infrastructure. All while the campus was occupied. The budget effort involved extensive value engineering due to cost overruns that occurred on another District project. Just as we did on the GEMS project, we will ensure our investigation efforts during preconstruction set your project up for success during Construction and bring maximum value to the project.
